Product groups

A product group is a container for the products in the hierarchical structure of the product catalog. The top node of the hierarchical structure is an assortment. A product group can only be created under another product group or directly under an assortment. The product groups that are created directly under an assortment have no parent product groups, they can be considered as top product groups in an assortment.

Creating a product group

To create a product group, either drag and drop an article group onto a existing product group, or select an existing product group or an assortment, and select "New product group" from right click menu.

Move or copy product groups

A product group can be moved to another product group or assortment. When a published product group moved to another assortment it becomes unpublished if it does not have url and mandatory fields in all the languages of the assortment. The products of the moved group becomes also unpublished if their status become "not completed" after the move.

A product group can be copied to another assortment. Since a new product group and new products are created as copies they will be unpublished even if they fullfill the publishing criterias in the target product group or assortment.

Publishing a product group

A product can be published if it is a top product group or its parent product group is published, it has urls in all the connected languages to the assortment and all its mandatory fields have values in all connected languages to the assortment.

To publish, either right click on the product group ans select the publishing option, or use publish menu item in main menu. Only items that are "Complete" in status will be published. (items whose all mandatory fields are filled)
