To use a Single discount code, start by choosing a name for the code, such as "winter2021", "blackfriday2021".
Single discount codes in Litium are case insensitive, which means they can be entered in uppercase or lowercase letters.
If you want customers to enter a discount code in order to access a discount type, enter the code in the field under Single code.
If you want the code to be single-use, enter the number 1 under Max number of uses. You can set the number of uses to any amount. However, the field cannot be left blank.
Note that once you save a discount with a single discount code, you will no longer be able to change the code or the number of uses for this discount.

In Litium, your customers can use generated codes to activate a discount. A common situation when generated codes are used is for broader campaigns.
To generate a specific number of discount codes, you select Generated codes when creating a discount. Then you enter the Number of codes to be generated by the system.
The codes will be generated once you save the discount. Note that you will not be able to re-generate codes for the discount you have saved.
Codes are generated using random upper case characters and numbers from a list. A generated code will be nine characters long.
Generated codes are valid to use once for your customers.
Track usage, the number of codes generated, and download an excel list
Usage is followed-up and displayed on the discount page:
1. Click Sales in the top menu.
2. Click Discounts in the left-hand menu.
3. Click on the discount with generated codes that you want to view.
4. Under Discount codes you can see the number of codes generated and how many codes have been used.

In this view, you can also download an excel sheet with a list of generated codes. The list also contains information about how many of the generated codes are left to use.
The customer who wants to activate the discount clicks a button in the checkout then enters the discount code in an indicated field.

The system will then check if the code is connected to an active discount. If it is, it will be stored in the cart.
Before calculating the order total in the checkout, the system will check if the discount code is applicable to the items in the customer's cart.
If the discount code is unknown, invalid, or has already been used the allowed number of times, the customer will receive the message "Discount code invalid".
If the discount code is valid, the customer will see the name of the discount, and the received amount off on the checkout page. That means that it's a time window between the user enter the checkout and actual pressing the confirm button, the system is validating the codes when enter the checkout page, not during order confirmation, this may have impact that discount codes may be overused.
