Import and export Excel files
How to export and import products between Litium and Microsoft Excel.
Export and import of products allow you to benefit from the data management capabilities in Microsoft Excel.
Export products
You can export products to an Excel file from several places in the Products Area. The Export icon will always take you to the same function.
How to export products to an Excel file:
- Choose one of the pre-defined product lists under Lists in the side menu, or search for the products and select what you want to export.
- Click Export. At the top of the export page, you will see the number of products that will be exported.
- Select the fields you want to export in the Product information to export drop-down list. Article number and VariantOf will always be included.
- Select the languages you want to export. The settings will only affect the export file if you have included fields with different languages, for example, Name and Description.
- Click Export and the Excel file will be downloaded to your local computer.
Import products
Import from Excel
- Select Imports in the side menu.
- Select New and navigate to the file you want to import. Select the file and the New import page will be displayed. See below.
- Use the drop-down menu under Maps to and map the columns in your Excel file to the corresponding fields in Litium. If you don't want to import a certain column, select Do not import.
- If you want to maintain the order of the variants from the file you import, mark the box for Sort variants according to the order set in the Excel file.
- If the file you import contains products that do not exist in Litium you can select a template for them, to be used during import. This is done in the drop-down menu at the bottom of the import page.
- Select Import. When the import has finished a summary is shown where you have the option to export products that failed to import to a separate list. Just select Export failed products.
If the heading of a column in your Excel file has the same name as a field in Litium, the program will try to map the column automatically. It is important to make sure that the information is imported to the right field.
You must also make sure that the column in the file you are importing contains the correct information for the corresponding field in Litium. If you need to unmap an automatically mapped column, you have to change the heading of that column in the Excel file. Then it will no longer be mapped automatically.
If you want to ignore a column select Do not import.
You can also specify a template directly in the import file, with a column called Field template. This enables you to use different templates for new products in the import file. If you choose a template in the drop-down menu the same template will be applied to all new products in the import file.
