Edit a page type

A page type defines the content and settings for a page. A page type can be a product page showing product details, or a category page listing products, or the checkout page.

Steps

Every page instance inherits settings from the page type, but they can also use the properties defined by the page type and template.

Go to Settings -> Sites -> Page types and templates and click on Edit.

Name and type

Type Type of the page type: content or product catalog. Product catalog page types have no templates and they are used to show products from Products. It is not possible to change the type of the page type after it has been created.
Name (language dependent): The name of the page type in the current user language. It will be shown for the editor when adding a new page.


Page properties

Can be moved to archive: Whether a page of this page type can be moved to the archive or not.
Auto archive: Whether a page of this page type can be automatically moved to the archive or not. Number of weeks before automatically archiving the page.
Can be master page: Wheter a page of this page type can be master page in a shared page scenario or not. A master page is a page that other pages shares information from.
Can be moved to trashcan: Whether a page of this page type can be moved to trashcan or not.
Can be in menu: Whether a page of this page type can be shown in menu or not. If this setting is checked, it will be possible to set manually if the page will be in menu or not.
Can be in site map: Whether a page of this page type can be included in the page listing of the page type Sitemap or not.
Possible to link to the page: Whether it is possible to create an internal link to a page of this page type or not.
Is printable: Whether it is possible to print a page of this page type using Litium Studio IsPrintable web control or not.
Is searchable: Whether the hits from the content of a page of this page type will be included in search result or not.
Create versions Whether a page of this page type will be version controlled or not. Number of versions that will be stored if the page will be version controlled.
Save visit statistics: Whether the visit statistics will be saved for a page of this page type or not.
Content is editable: Whether the content of a page of this page type is editable. If this settings is not checked, the Edit button will be disabled for the page.

Websites

You can define which page types can be created for each site. If the page type is not connected to a site, the pages of this page type can not be created on the site. If a page type is disconnected from a site, all the existing pages of this page type on the site will be unpublished.

Possible child and parent page types

You can define which page types that can be created as a sub page under a page of this page type. I.e. under a page of page type Newslist it should be possible to create only pages of page type News.

Page type properties

Default template: The template that will be used as default when pages of this page type will be created.
Edit page: You can to customize the edit guide (the guide that will be shown when you are editing a page). Enter here the path to your own edit guide (it has to be an aspx-file).
This page type is deletable: Whether a page of this page type can be deleted or not.


Panels

Page content: Path to user defined page content: it is possible to add a user control with your own functionality. Enter here the path to your own user control (it has to be an ascx-file). This user control will be rendered under the Text tab.
Page settings: Page to user defined page settings: it is possible to add a user control with your own functionality. Enter the path to your own user control (it has to be an ascx-file). This user control will be rendered under the Settings tab.
